Writing & Reflections

Writing is where I explore the ideas, experiences, questions, and perspective shifts that shape this work.

Lighthouse Moments

These are the perspective shifts that changed how I understand myself and my experience. Small distinctions, new lenses, and different ways of seeing that can create greater clarity, understanding, and choice.

Personal essays, stories, observations, and lived experiences exploring relationships, patterns, growth, and the ongoing process of building a stronger relationship with ourselves.

Frameworks, concepts, and practical tools related to self-awareness, nervous system understanding, relationships, self-trust, and the Lighthouse Model.

Together, these writings explore different paths toward the same destination: a deeper understanding of ourselves and the relationship we have with ourselves.  Browse by category, follow your curiosity, or start wherever you're drawn.

The Difference Between a Pattern and Personality

"For a long time, I thought I knew exactly what was wrong with me.

Not in a dramatic way. Not in a way that felt particularly concerning. It simply felt like self-awareness. The more I reflected on my life, the more certain I became about the conclusions I had reached.

I was anxious.

I was needy.

I was insecure.

I overthought everything.

At the time, those didn't feel like judgments. They felt like observations. They felt like things I had learned about myself through experience.

After all, I had evidence.

The problem was that I never stopped to ask whether I was describing a personality or a pattern.

The more often an experience repeated, the more it felt like proof. Over time, what began as reactions, coping strategies, and learned behaviors slowly became part of my identity. I stopped seeing them as things I experienced and started seeing them as who I was."

Pattern or Personality

Understanding yourself.

This reflection explores what can happen when repeated experiences slowly become part of our identity.

Pattern or Personality offers a practical way to continue that exploration by helping you examine a thought, behavior, or reaction and consider whether it reflects who you are or something you have learned through experience.

Did Something Resonate?

Some of the most meaningful moments begin with a simple realization:

"Wow. That makes so much sense."

If something you read resonated, sparked a question, or shifted your perspective, I'd love to hear from you.
