Companion Practices

 The Lighthouse Model offers a framework for building a stronger relationship with yourself through awareness, understanding, self-trust, and choice.


The Companion Practices are simple reflection tools designed to support that process. Rather than providing answers, they offer opportunities to pause, explore your experience, and reconnect with yourself.


Each practice aligns with a different stage of the model and can be used individually or together as you move through your own process of reflection and growth.

Moving Through the Model

The practices below were created to support different stages of the Lighthouse Model.


You might begin with the Body Check-In, which supports awareness by helping you gather information about your thoughts, emotions, sensations, and experiences. Before we can understand something, we often need to notice it first.


Once something has been noticed, Pattern or Personality can help deepen understanding by exploring what makes sense about what you are experiencing. Is this a reflection of who you are, or is it a pattern that developed through experience, learning, or adaptation?


As understanding grows, Inner Compass helps shift the focus inward. Rather than looking for answers outside yourself, it encourages you to explore what feels true, important, and aligned for you. This is often where self-trust begins to grow.


Finally, Choosing My Path helps translate reflection into action. After gathering information, exploring understanding, and reconnecting with yourself, you can begin considering what comes next and how you want to move forward.

 The Body Check-In helps you slow down and gather information about your thoughts, emotions, sensations, and experiences. By paying attention to what is already present, you can begin understanding yourself more clearly.

Pattern or Personality invites you to explore whether a thought, behavior, or reaction reflects who you are or a pattern that may have developed through experience. The goal is greater understanding, context, and compassion for yourself.

Self-trust grows as we reconnect with our inner experience.


The Inner Compass helps you explore your values, needs, priorities, and personal truth when uncertainty, outside opinions, or competing demands make it difficult to hear your own voice. It offers a place to pause and reconnect with yourself.

Choice emerges from awareness, understanding, and self-trust.


Choosing Your Path helps you explore what you want to do with what you know. By bringing awareness, understanding, and self-trust together, it supports intentional action that feels aligned with who you are and where you want to go.

Using the Companion Practices

You may choose to move through these practices as a progression through the Lighthouse Model, beginning with awareness and moving toward understanding, self-trust, and choice. Others may find themselves drawn to a single practice that supports the area they are currently exploring.


There is no right way to use them.


Some people return to the same practice repeatedly. Others move between practices as new questions, challenges, and insights emerge. You might use them together as a way of exploring the full framework or revisit a specific practice whenever you want to strengthen a particular part of the process.


Wherever you begin, the practices are intended to support a deeper relationship with yourself through awareness, understanding, self-trust, and choice.

Why It Matters

The relationship you have with yourself influences nearly every part of your life. It shapes how you make decisions, respond to challenges, navigate uncertainty, relate to other people, and understand your own experiences.


Many of us spend years gathering information about ourselves without always knowing how to apply it. Awareness, understanding, self-trust, and choice are not simply ideas to learn about. They are skills that develop through reflection, experience, and practice.


The Companion Practices were created to help bridge that gap. They offer simple ways to explore the Lighthouse Model in your own life and strengthen the relationship you have with yourself over time.


Difficult situations will still happen. Uncertainty will still exist. What changes is that you have a place to return to when they do.
